Youthful faces in the new Cabinet

When President Yoweri Museveni announced a reshuffle on Wednesday, we saw eight new faces being added to the cabinet of ministers.

Frank Tumwebaze for presidency and Rosemary Muyinda for urban development

The new faces as full ministers include Frank Tumwebaze (presidency). He replaces Kabakumba Masiko who resigned her position early this year.

The state ministers include Richard Todwong (political mobilization), Ernest Kiiza (Bunyoro affairs) and Gabriel Ajedra (investment).

Others are the Kayunga Woman MP Aidah Nantaba who is the new minister of state for lands. Also seasoned politician Shem Bageine is the new minister of state for East African Affairs.

Other appointed state ministers include the Budaka Woman MP Sarah Kataike (health general duties), and Gomba MP Rosemary Najjemba is the new state minister for urban development.

Some other ministers have bounced back. They include John Nasasira (in charge of General Duties/OPM). Also, Sam Kuteesa who had stepped aside returns to his position of foreign affairs.

Also, back in the cabinet is Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere (gender, labour and social affairs), Mwesigwa Rukutana (state for labour, employment and industrial relations).

The ministers transferred include Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu. He moves from the ministry of tourism to that of water and environment.

Also, Sarah Opendi Ochieng formerly the state minister for lands now becomes the state minister for Primary Health Care.

Also, Justine Kasule Lumumba who has been the state minister for urban development is now the Government Chief Whip.

And Maria Mutagamba is transferred from water and environment to tourism, wildlife and antiquities. The former minister of health in charge of general duties Dr. Richard Nduhuura is now Uganda’s ambassador to the UN in New York.

The President also appointed Mary Amajo as his new Private Secretary. She replaces Grace Akello whose new posting was unknown by press time.
