Aronda Wanted Over Choppers

The President – not so pleased at all

MPs yesterday tasked the minister for Defense and Chief of Defence Forces to appear before Parliament and explain reports regarding four UPDF choppers that went missing in Kenya.

News did rounds in Parliament yesterday to the effect that the UPDF choppers that went to hummer the Al-shabaab in Somalia went missing.

Speaking to scribes at Parliament, the MPs tasked Gen Aronda Nyakairima to come out and explain in detail the matter regarding those choppers. The MPs believe the choppers crushed because they were junk while others said these choppers were gunned down by Al-shabaab fighters.

“The truth should come out. If these choppers have been hit by Al-shabaab; government should be honest and tell us the truth. The choppers were procured using tax payer’s money. We know Kenya has always been a safe haven for Al-shabaab. We are calling for a special investigation because you two or more choppers can’t go missing at once,” said Ajuri MP, Hamson Obua.

Western Youth MP Gerald Karuhanga actually ruled out the possibility of these choppers having been hit by fighters; instead he said they were hired to UN when they were actually junk.

Gen. Aronda Addressing the Media

“We have said it repeatedly that this government is full of junks. Junk leaders, junk choppers etc. it may not be surprising that these choppers were junk. Sooner than later, we shall see a junk Museveni also collapsing,” Karuhanda said.

He added: “It is very important for Ugandans to know how much these choppers were bought and in what condition were they? We want Kiyonga and Aronda to come and explain this to parliament. We are getting row deals on everything we are procuring. We don’t want them to lie to parliament that these choppers were hit by fighters yet they were junk. We want to know who procured them.”

The MPs also said it is high time parliament considers debating a motion aimed at removing the UPDF soldiers from Somalia whose war they said is not about to end but killing several of Ugandan soldiers.
